In furtherance of its mission, Creative Aging Mid-Southhires local professional artists to present high quality arts performances and workshops for older adults. Most performances take place in nursing homes, retirement communities, senior centers, and adult day care facilities. Others take place at the homes of home-bound elders. Performances and workshops are scheduled at times that are convenient for our audiences and in formats responsive to the needs of audiences with cognitive and/or physical disabilities.
Each year Creative Aging Mid-South presents about 400 programs. Most of them are hour-long musical performances with some of Memphis’ favorite musicians including, among many others,
Joyce Cobb, Lily Afshar, Earl Randle, the Beverly Brothers,
Alfred Rudd, and the Drivin’ Sideways Band.
Other arts programs include multi-session workshops in weaving, handbuilt ceramics, mosaics, and painting.
Creative Aging Mid-South is tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
