Swiney
Singer/songwriter Deborah Swiney is a native Memphian who has toured internationally with Rev. Al Green. She has performed on the Oprah Winfrey Show, the Today Show, and Carnegie Hall.





Harriet Buckley, vBuckley_handisual artist
Ms. Buckley will conduct a 6 session workshop entitled "Hands of Time". Participants will partner to create casts of their own hands, share stories of their past, and then paint and mount the casts on display boards.


Jim Brock, guitar, vocals, and harmonica

BrockJim Brock, a singer-songwriter born and raised in Memphis, performs music that is mostly southern rock and folk-driven. Much of the inspiration for his music is overcoming the loss of loved ones and battling personal demons. Jim was inspired by artists like Hank Williams, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen and the Beatles. Carrying an acoustic guitar and a harmonica holder to every show, Jim's raspy voice captures the essence of folk, country and rock music from traditional hymns to rock classics.


Dr. Bette Stalnecker Gibson & Jim Gibson ---vocals Stalnecker 
Dr. Bette Stalnecker has recorded 33 albums, numerous tapes, 4 CD's and has written 3 books. She has hosted 3 television prog
rams of her own in Memphis, Jacksonville, and Ripley. She was on the Memphis Union Mission program, "Above the Clouds", for many years.  Dr. Stalnecker and her husband perform old time love songs, as well as patriotic, fun and uplifting music.

Beverly Brothers --- guitars and harmonies in songs made famous by the Everly Brothers,
                               Hank Williams, the Beatles and many more

The Beverly Brothers perform harmony based songs ranging from classic country to classic rock and roll favorites. This 2 guitar duo always delivers a spirited, high energy show that invites and incites audience participation.


Bobby Stewart & Buddy Goode ---  Guitar and great vocals a la Johnnie Cash

Bobby Stewart and Buddy Good, both accomplished musicians, have played together since 2008 in numerous senior settings for Creative Aging.Bobby has played professionally since 1957 and was a studio musician for HI records during the 1960’s.Bobby toured with Ace Cannon, and the Bill Black Combo.More recently, he has taken up acting and appeared in the movie, “Walk the Line,” a movie about Johnny Cash.

Captain Phil McGee   Captain_Phil
is a woodwind artist who plays tenor, alto, and soprano saxophone, as well as flute, clarinet, and harmonic. He also plays the piano, keyboards, and sings. After graduating and getting a Music Degree from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro Arkansas he moved to Memphis Tennessee to pursue a career playing music, which has carried him as far around the as Hong Kong.  He has album credits as a studio engineer, writer, arranger, and record producer.  Captain Phil has appeared on stage with headline entertainers such as The Temptations, Gladys Knight, Luther Vandross, The Commodores, Jason D. Williams, and B.B. King just to name a few.

Diana Stein has been playing piano professionally for about 30 years.  Thoroughly trained in the European classics,  she has expanded her repertoire to include:  standards,  blues,  jazz,  ragtime,  theater music, & some boogie-woogie!  Her greatest pleasure is reaching out with music, and touching those who listen, or just making them feel happy.  She enjoys having audiences sing with her, or getting up to dance, and also, presenting music that may be "off the beaten path"---that packs a punch!

Dom Fosco---     Saxophone & keyboards  Dom
Dom plays a variety of music styles, and for Creative Aging performances, plays standard songs that are recognizable from the last 80 years of popular music, entertaining audiences with the music of their lives.  He can play just piano, and also saxophone with pre-recorded accompaniment, if desired, for a varied and enjoyable time of reminiscing.


Earl Randle ---

It’s no small wonder that being born and growing up in Indianola, MS. with B. B. King and pursuing music where ever he lived, that Earl ended up in Memphis. From attending colleges at the Industrial College in Holly Springs and  Los Angeles City College and then living in Montreal he always pursued music. He moved to Memphis to write songs at Willie Mitchell’s Hi Records.  During his 10 years at the studio, he wrote songs for Al Green, Bonnie Raitt, Bob Seger, Duggan Brothers, Etta James, and Koko Taylor.  Earl considers his  biggest hit to be the song, “I’m Going to Tear Your Playhouse Down” written for Ann Peeples.  When it was later recorded by Paul Young it hit the charts.  Al Green’s hit in the ‘70s, “God Bless Our Love” was also written by Earl.

Felicitas Sloves --- 3 or 4 week Weaving workshops (rigid heddle and inkle looms) 
Felicitas was born in the Netherlands, moved to the United States, and later became an American citizen. She lived in Massachusetts for many years, where she began weaving in 1980. Her work has been exhibited in shows and galleries throughout the East Coast. Felicitas’ liturgical pieces are in private collections, including Goddard Chapel of Tufts University in Massachusetts and St. John’s United Methodist Church in Memphis. Her fashion accessories have also been featured in a prominent national handweavers’ publication, Handwoven magazine, as well as on local television.

Hank & Nora ---

Hank and Nora sing classic country, vintage standards, and Memphis music accompanying themselves on guitars. They enjoy performing gospel numbers, 1940s Frank Sinatra and Texas swing, classic country such as Hank Williams and Patsy Cline, Beatles and songs of the 1960s,  and Memphis music including Elvis and Johnny Cash.  Some of their material is fun and humorous. Their show consists of songs seniors will know and they are happy to prepare special requests, such as the Fourth of July show and holiday songs.  As Creative Aging performers since 2009, they continue to learn what senior audiences enjoy and respond to.  They can often meet requests from our audience.  “It is very important to show the residents how much we appreciate meeting them and being there to share our music. We interact before, during, and after the concert with residents and their guests, making the event much more special for us and, hopefully, for them.”

Jeanne Simmons and Angelo Rapan

 Jeanne is a performer recognized for her involvement in a broad array of classical music activities in Memphis. Over the past twenty years she has performed with the Germantown Symphony, the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, and played for numerous productions at Theatre Memphis and The Orpheum Theatre. As a member of the Flute Sisters Trio for ten years, Jeanne performed at Dixon Gallery, "Calvary and the Arts" and the Summer Series at Paulette’s. Jeanne has a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Memphis and continues to studytraditional and Celtic music, incorporating wooden flute.

Judith Thomson
Poetry readings and discussions -
Ms. Thomson presents poems that may be familiar to your residents and are relatively short. Selections are seasonal, amusing, and thought-provoking. Discussions, reminiscences, and even writing by some of the listeners can follow the reading.
Nocifora
is an accomplished visual artist and teacher who will conduct a  3 or 6 part workshop in oil painting. Ms. Nocifera's work has been exhibited at the Memphis Botanical Garden, J&W Gallery, and the Buckman Gallery.

Lee Cagle - Mountain Dulcimer    lee
Lee Cagle has been a Creative Aging artist for five years.  Her performances of traditional American/Celtic folk music on mountain dulcimer and stories have entertained audiences throughout the southeast.  She is a music instructor and president of the Memphis Dulcimer Gathering, Inc.

Lily Afshar performs an international program on the classical guitar. She plays music from Spain, Italy, South America, Turkey, and her own arrangements of Persian ballads.



Marcela Pinilla
Jazz standards, Bossanovas, Sambas and Cha-Chas sung from the heart
Marcela Pinilla is a performer, singer and songwriter from Bogota, Colombia.
She specializes in modern Latin Jazz Fusion. A vocalist of equal parts passion and power, Ms. Pinilla croons an eclectic style that combines the fire of South America, the cultural melting pot of Southeast Asia, and the heart of Soulsville USA. Singing since the age of five and performing for more than 15 years, Marcela has entertained audiences around the world with Latin, World Music Fusion, Jazz and Pop performances. 

The Masqueraders 
"Old School" blues and R&B --- keyboard guitar and vocals
The Masqueraders is a vocal trio that got its start in Dallas, Texas, in the early 1960s. With a few of its original members still active in the group today, the Masqueraders’ longevity is a testament to the group’s dedication to performing top-notch R&B music. The group has recorded several albums and has performed locally on a regular basis at such venues as the Blues City Café on Beale Street.


Memphis Harp Ensemble ---  The ensemble plays MHEclassical, traditional, Celtic and contemporary music, producing a varied and audience-pleasing mix of music for our concerts and programs. Their performances also include solos by some of their members using instruments other than the harp.

Jim Watkins plays the chromatic lead harmonica accompanied by Gene Finney on his  24-inch-long chord harmonica. Their goal has been to demonstrate the beauty and versatility of the harmonica  and to gain the respect they believe it deserves as a legitimate musical instrument.Known as The Memphis Reed Riders, Gene Finney and Jim Watkins have been making music together for over 40 years.

AlfredSoft Fire Duo,Keyboard & sax - smooth jazz and standards    Alfred Rudd (saxophone and vocals) and Kurl McKinney (keyboard) have played together for more than thirty years. Their repertoire includes jazz, standards, blues, rhythm and blues, Latin-American, popular and gospel songs. Mr. Rudd is a retired educator, choir director, one of five directors for MIFA’s Barrier Breakers Choral Group and leader of the Alfred Rudd quintet. Mr. McKinney is organist for First Baptist Chelsea Church and former band director at Vance Middle School.

Southern Central Band:
Country, blues, bluegrass & pop rock on guitars and keyboards

Steve Johnston:
Steve is a guitarist of amazing versatility. He cut his teeth on the blues, but he can play rock and country with the best of them.
